Primarily you will work within a small elite Group Direct IT Team. The team are striving to establish methodologies, working practices and the infrastructure required to drive Group Direct forward as a credible and profitable Financial Services organisation. Sites developed include functional public facing web sites, integration applications & interfaces, e-commerce applications, and other applications required in the business environment. ResponsibilitiesThe Web Developer will understand a range of applications and how to transfer the business needs into real and robust websites. The end user requirements must be understood, as well as working knowledge of the tools to transfer these into robust websites whilst developing in the most effective way. When websites interact with business applications, the developer must gain a thorough understanding of the business processes and constraints. Knowledge of the human computer interaction (HCI) is also part of this role; this involves the human psyche and ergonomics as well as applications development.Main duties
- Analyse prepared business requirements for projects.
- Assist in production of site maps, workflow and process documents.
- Design and build websites to meet these requirements.
- Liaise with project managers over delivery, bug fixes and development issues.
- Testing and tracking releases with associated documents.
- Maintain suitable records of functionality and development carried out in both the source code and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of the project brief, outline and scope documents.
- Assist in preparation of project specifications, use cases, and project plans.
- Assist in the implementation of developed sites.
- Support end users using telephone, remote support, and site visits.
